I heard once that of all the senses, smell are the most connected to memory. I don't know if that's true, but lilacs bring me back to when I was a little girl playing in the backyard in the summer time. Lilacs are the smell of summer to me. They are so permeating in aroma and yet so gentle in appearance. My mother had a lilac bush out back and the bees loved it. I loved it too.
