The flowers in the artwork reference/symbolize several different aspects.
First the early Utah pioneers who scarified so much to build the temple – they began to make our home blossom for future generations with the gospel, and the temple. In addition, the dried flower arrangement visually gives a nod to the early Utah woman’s dried flower handiwork. *
Second the red carnation petals symbolize Christ’s drops of blood and his sacrifice for us. This forms a base on which the temple ceremonies stands and it also forms the base that the testimonies of the members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints stands.
I’ve tried to include some of the symbology represented in the physical building of the Salt Lake Temple. While I could not include them all, I hope you enjoy the one’s I’ve added – I believe they too, are founded in Christ.
Finally, I love how the grain of this wood echoes the silhouette of the temple. This harmonizes so well it brings my mind to ponder on the fact that all things testify that there is a God. I love that the nature represented here in the wood is harmonizing with the human made structure made to praise and learn of God.
This is an original artwork offered.
